Mesh Dance Theatre

Traversing in-between identities and spaces of flux, Ubiquity of Hybridity premiered in Ohio, USA at Denison University in 2012. 

The Awakening was choreographed by Umeshi Rajeendra, and premiered in Colombo Sri Lanka at the British School of Colombo Auditorium. Sold out on all nights, the piece dealt with racisms, gender discrimination, and our rights as citizens of the world.

Deconstruct the Embody was a live performance exhibition, choreographed by Umeshi Rajeendra in collaboration with Malaka Premasiri, Photographer with company dancers: Anabel, Onara, Hope,  Niren, Anna, Roshni, Sandy and Roshan .

The performance started with a tour of the exhibited pieces followed by a performance that demanded the audience to engage with the tensions of the movement and the light as opposed to a set narrative.

Zayin premiered at the American Dance Festival when was Umeshi was an International Choreographer in Residence in 2016. This work-in-progress piece dealt with the idea of "sins", and specifically how we perceive the 7 sins in relationship to ourselves and ways in which we maneuver systems. 

Choreographed by Umeshi Rajeendra in collaboration with musician Natasha Senanayaka and the Department of Contemporary Dance at the University of the Visual and Performing Arts Sri Lanka, Seven: The Seeker, The Thinker, had 3 premiers. 

The pieces dealt with the number 7 and its significance in communities, the cultural, and the spiritual from three different perspectives.

Recurring premiered in 2019 at the Park Street Mews. Choreographed by Umeshi Rajeendra in collaboration with Musician Natasha Senanayaka, Recurring questioned/explored/dived into the politics in our bodies, and the ways in which protest for change. 

The piece was later produced in the US at Denison University, USA.

Choreographed by Umeshi Rajeendra in collaboration with Hope Rajasinghe, I Arrived was a duet performance that explored their personal migratory bodies, what do we mean by home and where is home. The performance premiered at the Park street mews. 

I Rather Not Say So was choreographed by Umeshi Rajeendra in collaboration with dancers Kathleen, Onara, Pathum, Daham, Bhagya, Shashika, Zahabiya, Dilkushi, Indika, Kanchana and Niren. The performance questioned and explored gender, sexuality, binaries and our relationship to society's labels.
