OUR PROJECTS

Technique Pathways/offerings

Class Schedule

These classes will enable students to explore a variety of dance practices to understand how different forms of knowledge can meet another and engage in creative practices to think about dance making and performance art. The forms we are offering are Contemporary, Kandyan, Ballet, Bharatanatyam, Hip-Hop, Yoga, Martial Arts, Contact Improvisation, Dance theatre for musicals and fitness movement flows. By providing access to both a form from the global south and a form from the western hemisphere, we hope to awaken the importance of a diverse learning which brings different groups of people together.

Defying the boundaries between disciplines, we value what creatives practices bring to society when collaboration, experimentation and research come into play to create the type of world we want to live in. These once-a-month workshops/weeklong projects will take the form of a multidisciplinary collaboration where students are introduced to different entries into movement making and creative practices. From a studio art and dance collaboration to a compositional site-specific practice, the workshops will enable students to gain insight into the far-reaching possibilities of movement/performance-making in the world – to be relevant and reflective of the world we live in – reimagining a future of shared belonging and participation.

Stay Tuned for Details!

These intensives are one week/one-month camps that will take place during the school holidays and in different parts of the country. We envision the camp to be mobile, shifting its locus to meet with as many different communities as possible. The workshops will consist of technique practices, composition and improvisation learning as well as multidisciplinary classes giving an opportunity for students from diverse backgrounds to learn alternate ways of thinking in dance and movement.

About

As an artistic, athletic, educative, and critical network of exchanges aimed at introducing an alternate thinking through movement, innovative practitioners, and experimental process-based methodologies, The MeshGround is a platform for movement arts to stimulate creative and independent movement thinkers. While the central focus is movement (dance), we imagine this lab/network to be informed by intersectional and multidisciplinary thinking, establishing a platform for the movement practitioners and social communities to grow openly and collectively, creating a mesh of action through multiple dialogues, bringing together people from not only various ethnicities and backgrounds, but also different types of movement practitioners.
